I am a 54 year old emerging artist/writer. I sustained injury to both arms in a work-related job. My ex-husband forced me from our home in 2003, when I could no longer be of benefit to him. I utilized community shelters, food stamp assistance, and community housing through CMHA. My daughter helps me as much as she can. She lives on a limited income. Although she doesn't see me as a burden, I know that I am one. I have been fighting social security for over five years for benefits. My medical and rehabilitation specialists feel that I am unable to hold a job, the law judge that heard my case feel that I can work. The Appeal Board has decided (most recently) to support the law judge. Where does all of this leave me? I am caught between a rock and a hard place and going no where fast. I come from a family of fighters. I'm not ready to give up on life. I want to start a home-based business. I want a studio in my home to in at my convenience. I am in need of a computer system, software, digital camera, printer, and internet service for at least a year. I need art supplies. I am in need of a vehicle for transport to galleries, art supply stores, parks for inspiration, and to religious meetings. Finally, I would like a gas card that will pay for gas for at least a year. If there are any wealthy persons that is feeling in a charitable mood, please consider giving to someone that is very appreciative and who can produce...me. Thank you!!
